Original Compositions Wanted

Based in the island of Jersey, The Cantabile Ensemble is a mixed choir of 16-24 voices formed at the end of 2004. Specialising in “Church Music”, the choir operates on a freelance basis and is regularly invited to give concerts and sing for special services in local churches and at other notable events in the island. We also tour occasionally to sing in UK cathedrals.

Our repertoire includes music from the Renaissance to the present day, including music specially commissioned for us.

If you are a composer of Church Music and would like to write a piece of music for The Cantabile Ensemble in up to 8 parts (SSAATTBB) with or without Organ accompaniment, we would like to hear from you.

June 2008: We are delighted to announce that Monsignor Nicholas France, Catholic Dean in Jersey, and Rev. David Coote, Superintendent Minister of the Jersey Methodist Circuit, have both  agreed to become Patrons of the choir.

We are always interested in hearing from potential new members, who may join at any time and are not required to audition. However, we are a busy choir and our repertoire changes to match to the liturgical season. Some sight reading ability is therefore desirable.

The choir will be singing the Services at Norwich Cathedral from 29-31 August 2008 and is seeking sponsorship.
