The Cantabile Ensemble will be giving the first performance of a new carol,  Behold now the Babe, by Ian Higginson and Carol Gunn at St. Peter's Parish Church, Jersey, on Saturday 6th December 2008. it is scored for SATB, Brass Quintet and Organ  and was commissioned by the Cantabile Ensemble.

Based in the island of Jersey, The Cantabile Ensemble is a mixed choir of 16-24 voices formed at the end of 2004. Specialising in “Church Music”, the choir operates on a freelance basis and is regularly invited to give concerts and sing for special services in local churches and at other notable events in the island. We also tour occasionally to sing in UK cathedrals.

Our repertoire includes music from the Renaissance to the present day, including music specially commissioned for us.

If you are a composer of Church Music and would like to write a piece of music for The Cantabile Ensemble in up to 8 parts (SSAATTBB) with or without Organ accompaniment, we would like to hear from you.

JUST RECEIVED FOR 2009

O Quam Gloriosum :an unaccompanied motet for SATB set to the text of the Antiphon at Vespers on All Saints Day, by Malcolm Archer.

  New Patrons

We are delighted to announce that Monsignor Nicholas France, Catholic Dean in Jersey, Rev. David Coote, Superintendent Minister of the Jersey Methodist Circuit, and The Very Reverend Bob Key, Dean of Jersey, have all agreed to become Patrons of the choir.

  How to join   Cathedral Tours

We are always interested in hearing from potential new members, who may join at any time and are not required to audition. However, we are a busy choir and our repertoire changes to match to the liturgical season. Some sight reading ability is therefore desirable.

We rehearse on Tuesday evenings at St. Peter's Parish Church. For directions, please click here. For further information, please click here to contact us.

The choir sang the Services at Norwich Cathedral from 29-31 August 2008. We are now planning our next tour to Winchester Cathedral in July 2010 and are seeking sponsorship.
